When I think of the term “blogging” i think of it in the original term “web-log” in the fact that it is a online log of your thoughts, rants, idiocies and whatever you choose to post. A blog is a great way to look back on and see different articles that you have shared. but looking back on a blog like Twitter, there may be things that you wish that you didn’t put there.

A Question that you have to ask yourself is “What is your online image”. It doesn’t matter if you post it or someone posts about you, its on the internet for the whole world to look at. A big misconception of alot of users is that if you delete something that you posted online, is that it is gone forever. Wrong. almost simultaneously as you post something, it is archived, indexed and saved by many search engines and other sites.

Since almost everyone including there pets are online now, all you have to do to find out any information about anyone is to just google them. This has led people to start self censoring themselves online, by either deleting any questionable content on there twitter, facebook, myspace etc. Or making a completely new profiles that are there to act as a decoy for people who are trying to find out infromation about them, like employers. This may only be a band-aid for the problem.

“Clients (including prospects) may see what you post on the Web, so consider what message you’re sending with your online image.”

What else prospects find about me can have an impact as well. Even though certain sites are designated as professional (e.g., LinkedIn) or personal (e.g., Facebook), what curious candidate client isn’t going to check out the photos from the bachelor party posted on Flickr, the political rants on a personal blog, or the NSFW humor linked from Twitter accompanied by the profound commentary “lmao”?

Via. TechRebuplic

That’s not to say that you shouldn’t be open and genuine online — just that you need to be aware that anyone may see it.

August Is going to be a very busy time. My contract for the City Hall in Barrie is ending, which means i will have to start looking for something new. My time working with everyone has been great and i wish i could stay on longer, but alas i must start looking for a new job, which can be a good experience but also a bad one at the same time. We will have to see how that goes.

Also this month, I will be moving into a 1bdrm apartment with my fiancée (yay to no more roomates) so packing and getting ready is starting to take up most of my free time from work, but its going to be worth it. Another reason why August is going to be a special time, it means that it is only 1 year until i get married. One year is going to come and go before i know it.

This is just a quick update of things that have happened, is happening and things to come. Needless to say, I have been keeping busy and looking forward to every minute of it.

Stay Tuned.
